The Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Center

Get the Most From Your Physical Therapy

January 2, 2024

You get as much—if not more—out of the effort that you put into it. Physical therapy (PT) helps reduce the symptoms of many chronic diseases and conditions, and it assists in preventing difficulties from worsening. People who take their PT seriously benefit the most.

From diagnosis to treatment, the office of The Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Center is here for you every step of the way. We use the newest techniques as well as tried-and-true methods to care for conditions that require PT. We offer conservative treatment options as well as advanced procedures, depending on each patient’s needs. This advice will help you reach your PT goals.

Talk to the therapist about often you will see him (or her) and your treatment goals.

Don’t miss an appointment and get there a few minutes early. Arriving late will cut into your session and disrupt the therapist’s schedule.

Adhere to the therapist’s counseling. He might want to you avoid particular movements or change the way you carry out one or more activities. Not sticking to his instructions could injure you or impede your recuperation. Ask him to clarify anything that you don’t understand.

Perform your home exercises precisely as prescribed by the therapist. It’s essential to the success of your healing. And don’t think that exceeding home exercises will hasten your recovery; it could be harmful. Keep up with your post-PT home exercises to avoid regressing.

Find or create a dedicated space for your home exercises. Whether it be a spare room, a corner of your living room or in your garage, ensure that there’s plenty of ventilation and enough room for you to easily move around and any needed equipment. This dedicated space will put you in the PT mindset and free you from distractions and interruptions.

Follow the therapist’s instructions regarding altering your home for safety. He may recommend rearranging your furniture, discarding throw and small area rugs, installing safety rails, and increasing your interior and exterior lighting.

The office of The Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Center takes pride in its outstanding service, attention to detail and friendly professionalism. You will receive excellent care and explanations of your best options. Please call us today for an appointment.
